The story of The Wyz
Maurice "Wyz Propane" Blake is an artist from Compton, Ca. born Nov. 20th 1982. Wyz started rapping at the tender age of eleven at Roosevelt Middle School with a classmate who shared the same interest. At this time he went under the moniker Ace Boom which was a nickname from his uncle. They formed a group called Double Trouble, rapping for classmates and meeting after school to work on music. They later would perform their songs for their moms receiving high praises. Wyz mom later revealed she may have a connect to Dr. Dre so she asked if they can make a demo tape. Super excited Wyz and his friend created around seven songs, but the day they was suppose to record the demo Wyz friend couldn't come over. Feeling anxious and ambitious Wyz ended up recording the demo alone rapping in two different voices since he knew all his friends verses, however they never heard back from Dr. Dre. This was sort of discouraging so Wyz took a break from writing raps. Every now and then Wyz may freestyle with friends or write here and there but not the same as before. Wyz eventually got into the acting business in the ninth grade, meeting talent manager Carla Alexander at Jordan High School, which he was soon later kicked out of and sent to Dominguez High. Working with Alexanders Talent, Wyz appeared in movies, shows, and commercials working with actors such as Laurence Fishburne, Kerry Washington, Evan Ross, Deray Davis, Michael Chiklis, BETs Stephen Hill, and more. It wasn't until the twelfth grade that Wyz picked back up the pen forming another group with friends called The Hard Hittaz, consisting of 4 members Mic Knight, Da Boy GG, Cheese, and Young Rece The Wiz Kid. All kids from Compton with bars. The group later became three with Cheese going his own way. The moniker Wiz Kid came from spitting witty rhymes. The group put out two albums and a mixtape creating a local buzz through out the city of Compton. Feeling it was time to expand Wyz later decided to go solo and thats when Wyz Propane was born. Wyz first mixtape A Dolla And A Dream was an instant underground classic in Compton and surrounding cities. Then partnering with another child hood friend and entrepreneur Travis Lewis and his Burris Ave Ent imprint the two hit the ground running doing many shows, interviews, and guest appearances. Wyz worked with artist such as Craig G, Bad Azz, Wyann, Knockturnal, and many local artist. Wyz performed at venues such as The Key Club, House Of Blues, Playhouse, Green Turtle, Blue Cafe, and more. Opening for acts such as Watts Stix, Kendrick Lamar, Jay Rock, and MC Eiht. Burris Ave Ent end up stopping its operation however Wyz went on to release over fifteen mixtapes, two Eps, two albums, and countless features, receiving classic titles for mixtapes: A Dolla And A Dream, The Sound Of Magic, Me Myself And My Microphone, Royal Order Mixtape, and Top 5 Mixtape. As Wyz grew as a person his music started to change and after having a revelation of Jesus Christ Wyz was impelled to make music with purpose. Wyz then founded the moment Circle Of Royals which brings awareness to the inner light that we possess. The inner light that gets us out of darkness and into our truth. The inner light that brings us to love. Wyz later stopped using curse words in his music and start making music centered around the goodness of God in hopes that it will inspire others to build a personal relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Wyz has turned over a new leaf, the first reflection of this is the album The Great Migration and the more recent album He Who Has An Ear Let Him Hear. We can't lose spreading the good news.
